The Rhodes University approved Pegasys Access Control system is installed in the Hamilton Building. This document explains the methods to be
used to enter and exit the building.
The reader unit usually displays a red light. This shows that the system is
active and functioning normally. This is shown in the picture below.

When you swipe a card across the front of the reader, the light will flash green
to indicate that the reader has read the card. This is shown in the picture
below.

If your card is accepted, the reader light will go solidly green for a few
seconds while the door is unlocked. This is shown in the picture below.

If your card is not in the system, the reader will go back to red. This is shown
in the picture below.

The exit panel has two buttons. The white button at the top is used to exit the
building under normal circumstances.

The green button below is a BREAK GLASS button (ie if you push it the GLASS
WILL BREAK) and is to be used only in an emergency situation, such as during a
fire. Activating this button breaks power to the magnetic lock and the door will
open. Please note that this sets off a siren and a fault is triggered on the
system.
So please use ONLY the white button to exit unless it is a genuine emrgency.
